4 Months of Work, 6+ Months of Returns: A Squarespace Breakthrough

The Challenge
A vintage Pilsen body shop on a constrained Squarespace site, invisible online in a saturated Chicago auto-body market dominated by franchise chains.
Chicago Auto Recon is the kind of business Yelp reviewers love and Google had never heard of. Anthony Vula's shop runs out of a vintage bow-truss warehouse in Pilsen, fully licensed, certified in modern collision and reconditioning work, direct-billing every major insurer. But the SERP belonged to Caliber Collision, Crash Champions, and Service King franchises with corporate SEO budgets. Baseline through summer 2025: under 200 organic visits a month, almost all branded.
Every paying customer was either walking in from the neighborhood, routed through insurance adjusters, or coming via paid Google Ads in the most competitive home-services-adjacent vertical in the city.
Squarespace constrained options for schema, dynamic templates, and technical SEO
Under 200 non-branded organic visits per month at engagement start
Multi-state franchises with 10x SEO budgets dominating page 1
Discovery
Stakeholders:
“I don't need more cars. I need the right cars. The Tesla owner whose insurance company says "go to the franchise" -- I want that owner Googling and finding me first, before the adjuster steers them.”
What We Uncovered
The shop had 10 dedicated service pages and 25 neighborhood pages -- architecture was good but content was thin
Google Business Profile was active but under-leveraged despite an Instagram-bait shop interior
The competitive opening was clear: EV collision and luxury-brand-specific repair queries had high intent and low franchise content quality
Pilsen location is geographically central to high-income North Side neighborhoods where Tesla/BMW/Mercedes owners concentrate
Our Approach
A concentrated 4-month sprint (July - October 2025) leveraging an existing-but-underperforming page architecture. The win came from depth, not new pages. We stepped back at handoff; the results compounded on their own.

Client Voice
“They worked with us for four months. Then the phone started ringing in January for work I've never gotten calls for -- Tesla owners from Lincoln Park, BMW guys from Streeterville, dealer reconditioning calls from the suburbs. All organic. Nobody's paying for those calls. That work they did in the summer is still bringing in cars six months later.”
