Free GEO Readiness Scorecard
We fetch your homepage, robots.txt, and llms.txt, check your knowledge-graph presence, and grade you across five pillars of AI-search visibility - with the exact lines to fix.
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO is the practice of getting your business cited in AI-generated answers - the responses from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google's AI Overviews that increasingly sit above or replace the classic blue links. Where traditional SEO optimizes to rank a page, GEO optimizes to be quoted as a source. That depends on a different mix of signals: whether AI crawlers can reach you, whether your content is cleanly structured and extractable, whether structured data and a knowledge-graph entity tell engines who you are, and whether you have declared your intent through files like robots.txt and llms.txt. This scorecard checks all of those in one pass.
The five pillars we score
Crawlability & Access confirms AI and search crawlers can actually load your site and find your sitemap. AI Crawler Access inspects your robots.txt for the AI-specific user-agents and distinguishes search bots (which cite you) from training bots (which learn from you) - because blocking the wrong one quietly removes you from AI answers. Structured Data looks for JSON-LD, Organization identity, and sameAs entity links. Content Extractability checks your title, description, headings, and whether you use the lists, tables, and FAQ formats AI engines quote most. Entity & Authority checks for a knowledge-graph entity and a well-formed llms.txt. Each pillar is weighted and rolled into a single 0-100 grade.
From score to fix
A number on its own does not move rankings, so every finding is specific and quotes the actual evidence from your site - the blocking robots.txt line, the missing schema, the thin homepage. Where a pillar is weak, the scorecard hands you a remediation kit that opens our free llms.txt generator, schema generator, AI crawler rules builder, or content analyzer, each ready to produce exactly what you are missing. The whole audit runs in your browser against public data - we never store your domain, and there is no email gate on the full report.
Frequently Asked Questions
Aim for 75+ (grade B or better). Above 90 means AI crawlers can reach you, your content is well-structured and marked up with schema, and you have a recognizable entity - the conditions under which AI engines confidently cite a source. Scores below 60 usually mean a fixable blocker: crawlers are blocked, there is no structured data, or the content is too thin to quote.
SEO aims to rank a page in a list of links; GEO aims to be cited as a source inside an AI-generated answer. They share a foundation - crawlability, quality content, structured data - but GEO leans harder on entity clarity, self-contained extractable passages, and explicit AI-crawler permissions. A site can rank well in classic search yet be invisible in AI answers if it blocks AI search bots or lacks structured data.
It depends which ones. Training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, Google-Extended) fetch pages to train models; blocking them is a reasonable content-protection choice. Search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot) fetch pages to cite them in live AI answers; blocking those removes you from AI search results. The common mistake is blocking everything with one rule and losing citation visibility by accident.
llms.txt is an emerging standard - a curated markdown map of your most important pages for AI crawlers. Adoption is still early and its ranking impact is unproven at scale, so we treat it as a low-cost, forward-looking signal rather than a guarantee. It is fast to add, it declares intent clearly, and having a well-formed one costs nothing while the standard matures.
No. The tool fetches only three public resources any crawler can already read - your homepage, /robots.txt, and /llms.txt - plus a public knowledge-graph lookup. Nothing is stored, there is no login, and we never see anything a normal visitor could not.
